Spiritually Necessary

Spiritually Necessary

I never tire of doing art. When I am creating a piece of art I am in communion with God. Time stops and I am at peace. I recognize it as a gift. This is how I choose to live out the rest of my days; it is spiritually necessary.

"The divine element in the art of painting changes the painter's mind into the likeness of the divine mind..." -Leonardo DaVinci

My Greatest Inspiration

My Greatest Inspiration

My greatest source of inspiration are my children. Since their birth they have continued to teach me lessons about life, love, and compassion. They remind me how to see the world through a child's eye. I strive to be a great father and teacher. Where discipline, determination and strength fail, the thought of my children compel me past any challenge. I am blessed and am inspired to inspire.

I have looked into your eyes with my eyes. I have put my heart near your heart.
Pope John XXIII

True Character

I've found that the heart and soul of ones character is forged at moments of great struggle and conflict. Find your limit. Have the courage to surpass it. Sometimes the only thing you will have is faith. Take the step! There is no other way to evolve. For me these tests have almost always occurred outside the realm of being an artist. The lessons and experiences I learn I am able to apply in the creation of my art. It is imperative that one continues to grow emotionally, spiritually and mentally. Your growth or lack of will be reflected through your art for all time. Talent alone will not charm lifelong success. Despite the emphasis others may place upon doing things strictly for payment, in whatever you do, perform it with Love. That is true character.

The Journey Begins

Jan 1, 2015

I am an artist! I may not have always recognized myself as one but I've always been an artist. Doing art is my time for self reflection and spiritual communion with God. I am in service to God as an artist. I have a front row seat in the creation of a piece as I submit to the process of discovery my hand guided through the composition. Although I get to sign the piece as my own I know that I am just a tool. This is the year that I will introduce myself to the world. To know me is to know my art. The creation of my art is the most personal statement I can make - I bare my thoughts, feelings and emotions ... my soul. The truth as I know it.

At this point I am far from being able to make a living off of my art. I am quite literally a "Starving Artist". This I know is temporary. I am blessed to have friends and family that are supportive and encouraging. As a first generation father my children are watching. For me to be able to look them in the eye truthfully and tell them that they can be whatever they want to be - I myself, their father, must have the courage to pursuit my own passions. So for them I embark on my journey to fulfill my dreams, ambitions and personal legend. This will be my testimony. The journey begins.
